Ok after the insurance not turning out to what it should have been im left with 1800 quid to find a new bike. Well a replacement as it doesnt have to be new, second hand is fine.

So an suggestions? im wondering if anyone has any experiences of the stumpjumpers? or anything else that i should be keeping an eye out for?

in and around calderdale and hebden. The only issue i have is i need a small frame (im 5ft6) and theres none in stock.

im after something 140-150mm travel. Ive got a boardman fs pro at the moment which is 130. its just a little lacking

All sorts around for that price, new or second hand. I'm looking to spend about the same as you, think I've narrowed it down to a Giant Trance 2 when they come out in March, or a Canyon if I buy new...second hand is a minefield, so much on offer!

The El Guapo tempted me, but Planet X's lack of interest in taking £1650 off me made me look elsewhere!

If you are looking for a Trance this one is cheap (nothing to do with me), doesn't say what size though.

Can't go wrong with the new Trance. Great value for money. Looks good, rides good

Only problem is waiting until Wk12 for one.

In the usual vein of recommend what you have, I've just purchased a Giant Anthem X 29er 4, it comes in under budget but they do a more expensive one with better spec. It climbs like a thing possesed, very impressed with it, after a long time riding hardtails and fully rigid it was a revelation in comfort and performance. 100mm travel with 29ers is a rapid ground coverer.

For Calderdale/Hebden I would want something that climbs well rather than lots of travel.

i'm in a similar position and narrowed down to a trance 2 or canyon spectral 7, both seem to be on a similar order time.

Any thoughts on pro's or cons of each, canyon spec looks better on paper?

thanks

£1500 gets you a 2014 Merida One-Forty 5-B 1, 650b, 140mm, slx, sounds like a good deal. has anyone got one or seen a British review?
