Hi folks!
I accidentally purchased a 172.5mm crankset instead of 175mm to my race mountainbike.
Do you think I will notice any difference?
Riding MTB marathons and I´m rather strength oriented rider and ride off the saddle pretty often.
My other bike (Training/Commuter MTB) has 175mm cranks and I use both bikes alternately.
I am 5 feet 8 and a half inches tall with 32" inseam.
Anyone with simillar experience? What would you suggest?
Wear thinner socks.
One of my bikes has 170mm cranks, the other has 175mm cranks. The difference is not even slightly noticeable. Stick the 'em on, you'll be fine.
Scratching out the 2. in 172.5 and carrying on riding.
If only GW were here!
I doubt you'll notice any difference. I could probably put a 172.5 on one side and a 175 on the other and not notice 😉
Some people are quite susceptible to noticing the difference. Some not.
5mm I can tell the difference, and I actually prefer a shorter 170mm crank, despite being 5'10" (and a bit) with a longer inseam than you. 2.5mm difference is barely noticable though.
If anything I'd say a shorter crank on the race bike would be a bonus, though that's just my personal preference maybe.
I went from 175's to 165's & couldn't tell the difference & i'm over 6ft.
Just ride them 🙂
Crank length...can of worms!
