After banging the saddle on my bottom during a descent I've decided to look at longer droppers.
Plenty of room for a 170/180mm drop.
Potentially on two bikes: one 30.9 ST, the other 31.6.
Prefer cable to Reverb-type fluid, but not overly fussy.
What's out there now?
The Revive is pisstakingly expensive, but my 2 have been fantastic.
I have a 175mm KS Lev which I like a lot. It goes up and down smoothly, there’s no play at all, and there’s also a nice soft clunk letting you know it’s fully extended again. I’ve only had it 8 weeks though so can’t comment on reliability.
OneUp in theory, although there don't seem to be many out in the wild yet.
I have the Revive too and having come from a Reverb I wouldn't go back. It's just a lovely bit of kit.
Thanks all – that's at least two I wasn't aware of.
Got two LEVs already and have been happy with them; will use that as a starting point.
I just took a punt on one of these, the usual brand x, tranz x generic dropper but in 30.9 170mm guise.
Tis tremendous to have the saddle so far out the road. Makes 125mm feel like the old 100mm drop ones back in the day.

Seems OK so far, about 4 weeks in, and has exactly the same connector as the command post it replaced, so didn't have to change any cables, connectors or nuffink. That was a surprise plus!
Also got a brand-x 150mm on the other bike. Also seems good.
At the prices these are going for, seems nuts to spend 4x that. (tbf, I did have a wolf tooth lever already, and the aforementioned specialized lever for the command post)
170mm OneUp user here.
No complaints from me. It's been on a few months now & still works great 🙂
I have a 170mm reverb been very reliable for the last 8 months
Thanks all. I'm going to take a long hard look at the Revive / my bank account / the floor, while my other half tells me how expensive it is.
