So got my 9sp 16T to replace the 15 & 17 so I can fit a 40T expander ring. I noticed that the ramps don't line up with the ramps on the 10sp rings so got my trusty needle file out and, hey presto, it's loads better..

That's exactly what I did with mine. Works flawlessly now.
Sorry, can't see what you did there, though I guess you filed out one of the narrow grooves so it fits in another position that lines up the ramps? Not really thought about this and have been living with rough changes for 6 months. Will have a look next time I clean the cassette.
Took one side off the wide location tag so that the ring can be fitted in any orientation.
