Am suffering more pedal strikes on my new patrol than previous bike builds, so am wanting to try it with 165mm cranks (I have 30” legs)
I have a nice Hope ceramic bottom bracket (24mm) so would like to stick to this size ideally, but lack of options have me thinking I may need to change it
Cranks I’ve seen are
Shimano Zee (bit heavy, don’t like the look of them, would like direct mount rings)
Race Face aeffect (seem to fit the bill perfect, but kind find any in uk, and £40 postage from us)

Hope’s cranks come in 165mm, but are 30mm so would have to get a new bottom bracket
Is it time I move on, say goodbye to my faultless Hope ceramic, and move on to 30mm? I could go DUB, but my Hopes been so good I don’t want to return to crap BB’s

I recently bought 165mm RaceFace Atlas but with a 30mm axle for the same reasons as you. I read something when I was buying them that suggested that the axles are swappable so maybe there's a 24mm option?

Edit, just looked & it appears to be 30mm only.

Could you get a sram gxp crank with direct mount ring and get an adaptor for the Hope BB?

Was going to suggest Aeffects but either Raceface have dropped them or they are coming up with something new. (It's annoying as the Aeffect is the fat bike crank of choice).

Do the Hope 30mm specific BBs fit a standard threaded shell? It's not something I've looked at as so far I've been unable to bend a 24mm diameter 100mm long tube despite my awsum leg power.

Hadn’t realised GXP could be made to fit, will look into this

Pretty sure the Hope 30 fit a standard bb shell, although need a special tool to fit, and it doesn’t look like they do a ceramic option anymore

I just bought my missus some NX Eagle DUB cranks (165mm) and BB from Bikediscount.de. Think it came to about £110 in total. They're a bit heavier than some, but feel sturdy!

I have 165mm XT. Not the current ones but probably still available.

The GXP adapter works but I’d rather avoid it because of how it makes the outer seal spin, eventually wearing out the inner lip on the BB shell.

Evans has 165mm XT without chainring last time I looked.

Re the Aeffect cranks, these would work wouldn’t they?
Just remove the existing carrier and rings and fit a DM ring?

You can get the adapters for a GXP with a Hope BB for about a tenner.
The 30mm BBs fit exactly as a normal one did, so no issues there. I've had both types on my Patrol without issue.
I don't want to sound like an arse, but how long have you had the bike? I was getting pedal strikes all over the place when I first got mine, but after a quite long adjustment period (couple of months probably!), all is well now. It takes a while to adapt your riding style, but it's worth it when you realise just how quickly these things can rail corners, and how stable they are.
I had a couple of massive crashes while I was adjusting, mind!

If you have 30" legs then 165mm cranks should pedal much better.

"CGG what size for 34″ legs?"

I have 170mm on one bike and 165mm on the other two. 33.5" leg to be precise. I think 170 is the best fit for me but I prefer 165 to 175.

Try [s]10mm wider tyres?[/s] looking ahead at the terrain and not pedalling into the things you've seen.
