Yesterday's local ride felt like either riding on sheet ice, or clay/peaty mud or green slime on slick roots.
That is because it was.

Today we went trail building at Balquhidder with the local chap who is behind all the trails. The quarry now has some spicy new lines to session or pontificate over...

Quick lap of some low level Lakes stuff yesterday. Lots of folk out, Loughrigg Terrace was busier than on a midsummer day!

Bloody cold and snowy here, above 400m was very wintery. Shorts and inappropriate gloves were not a a great choice.

Summit pic was at 800m ish, the chute through the forest turned out to be alarmingly traction free.

Great ride though, if slightly 'type B' fun 😆

Took the new gravel machine out for its shakedown ride. Ramblings in the appropriate thread at some point no doubt.

Yesterday was a banging ride through the leaves on pitch hill. Guided some mates from work who are strong roadies getting into mtb side of things. Was good fun watching them find the buzz and the limits of what they wanted to do!

back to Basecamp.

Rode past that for the umpteenth time yesterday - what's it like to stay in?

Took the Funky Space Chicken for a thrash round the gravel tracks of Cannock. I love this bike.

Basic but alright, though cleaner and nicer if it's not being inhabited by a bunch of grubby students...

(One of the Uni canoe clubs I paddle with intermittently were staying there for the weekend, I was just up to meet a couple of their old boys I'm mates with to guide them for the day.)

These are from Friday, as I had a day off and the Sun made it's first appearance in a couple of weeks.

I was out exploring an area I know lot of people ride in, but hadn't visited myself. I had also just fitted more autumnal tyres, which proved out to be a lot more appropriate than the DHF/Aggressor -combo they replaced.

It had rained non-stop from Tuesday evening to midday Thursday, and it showed in places. The night before was below zero, and in some microclimates the mud had a crunchy crust on top.

All the moisture meant that there was plenty of God-light to go around, but unfortunately I only had a fairly mediocre point-and-shoot with me.

Ulverston cx. Plan executed to perfection. Started near the back an slid steadily backwards. Clarty as, the mini Vs were a distinct disadvantage and had a big chain drop where everyone I'd battled past swept by but that's all I've got excuses wise. Need to start training again. Or not.

No pics from me.

Woke to a drizzle, decided to do a road ride, but it turned to full on rain while I was out. Managed 30 miles, but the last 20 minutes were properly grim.

Wanting to get back on the trails, but my local stuff is waterlogged. (Worksop, North Notts - wettest I can remember it for years)

In need of some quiet time to get away form the current climate here, so a good old hike a bike session was called for in the west Lantau mountains.

Kayak. you weren't at Woburn with the Rutland Cycles crew were you?

Usual autumnal mix of dog rides and a solo local gloop-fest for me this past weekend.
