The maxel ultimate is a better piece of kit.

maxle stealth is perfect really. Needs a tool but when do you ever want to remove a maxle when you don't also have tools?

There was that day I forgot to pack my multi tool when I went to the states.... I could have done with it to fit the maxle properly to ride to the shop to buy a new one 😉 Hand tight was fine....probably

The OneUp one does the job nicely too, might come in a shade chaper than the Maxle stealth, and you cna have a red one

Those BX ones are a good price.👍

BX stuff I've had is usually perfectly fine.

Must remember these if I break the Maxle QR on some second-hand forks I just got. The Stealth is great but bloody expensive!

I went through this. I learned a few things, and bought a direct replacment for the one *I* had broken.

The main takeaway is they only go tits up if you over torque. The reviews for the mxale stealth on the internets are full of people saying this.

Also, the threaded end and inside the lip should be lightly greased.

Final tip. a 5.5mm hex key deeper inside the 6mm one that you cant remove anymore helps get it off. it like theres a failsafe for us hamfisted monkeys.

I have the stealth maxle, but maybe through wear on the fork, or another reason, the thread is now not deep enough and it is tight before all the play is taken out. The standard maxle is fine as is a kcnc hex key one. So as a replacement, I would recommend the kcnc one.

Did you remove your wheel often? (like for putitng in car?)

I use a roof carrier, but - I do swap between 29 and 27.5+ wheelsets so am curious if repeated use is going to do that.

Not particularly. I swap tyres a lot. Yes the fork is worn, but there should have been a bit more thread to take account of that.

Not true. I mean, yes, mostly that's what it'll be- but mine broke under minimal strain, the actual amount of metal in the weakspot is feeble

Yes - KCNC is low cost and good quality.
