So, I've moved from a set of SRAM hydro discs on my TCX to a set of road BB7's (due to group set swap)…..

All was going well until I realised that the bolt through axle on the front fouls the calliper and won't tighten - grrrrr - rendering the whole set up unusable!!!! The thru axle has a fixed handle on the end that catches on the calliper and therefore won't turn.

Basically, I need a qr version of the axle…..but the only ones I can find are for suss forks and are too long…..

Anyone know of a short road version of a 15mm QR and where I could get one??? Either that or a short thru axle with just an allen key head maybe??

Assuming they not changed the design the 15mm DT axle on my TCX has a spring in the lever that means you can move it separately from the axle itself. Once you have a small amount of thread in the opposite fork leg so the axle doesnt pull out you should be able to lift the lever out of the ratchet that engages between axle and lever which will enable you to move the lever away from the brake calliper to tighten more.

I've explained that badly but hopefully you get the gist of it.

^ what he said. I picked up a friends bike from a bike shop for them. Tried to get the wheel off to put the bike in the car, QR handle touching the fork leg. I struggled for a good 20mins before accidentally discovering that you could 'lift' the handle and rotate it freely...

Oh yes, so it does - well you live and learn!!!

Thanks guys - I would never have spotted that in a million years!! I've just had a look at the DT Swiss website and even the product description on there doesn't give much away!

😀
