On Monday whilst doing a pretty extreme ride in Scotland my 15mm front QR lever worked it's way loose and fell out, I have no idea how or where it was gone at the end of the day. The outer section remained in place. Luckily I did not die but does this lever and tube matter apart from the fact I would not have been able to get the wheel off.

I'm presuming it's a Rockshox Maxle, and if so, I think it does matter as it contains an expander to lock the unthreaded end into the fork leg both for security, and to stop it wearing away the fork through fretting.
