I’m considering switching to a 150mm external dropper but they seem to be like hens teeth. What options have I got?

What about the magura vyron? They do a 150mm dropper and no cables at all.

Don’t want to spend a fortune Muggo, but I’ll take a look, it’s for my hardtail.

Had the same issue a year ago to replace my knackered Reverb on my 2011 5. Went for a Fox Transfer and haven't regretted it. Cable stays put during use and the action is smooth and predictable. Did have a small issue with grit getting behind the cam occasionally in really wet rides but that's stopped since I fitted a mudguard, currently trying a cover too and that works really well.

Expensive but the best option.

I've got a 31.6 150mm Lev DX on my Solaris. They do a 170mm version too, and also in 30.9 and 34.whateveritis.

Get an internal one and drill your frame? Much neater.

Giant do a 150mm external dropper for not much. Can't comment on longevity but it worked great for a couple of weeks in the summer and hasn't caused problems sitting in the garage since.

Has a cable that mounts under the saddle which is mildly annoying as it moves up and down when dropping and needs routing accordingly.

+1 for the Fox transfer. I have one (albeit internally routed) and it's far nicer than the reverb on my other bike. No reliability issues either in the 6 months I've had it.

On a Hardtail I’d go internally routed through one of the water bottle bosses. Wont work with a reverb hose but a cable will thread through with some fiddling and no drilling.

I've got a brand new 150mm Giant dropper I'm gonna sell if your interested? You can switch from internal to external routing and it's 440mm in length. Email me at: timward (12) at (Hotmail) (dot) (com).

Isn't internal a faff when you want to raise/lower the dropper in the frame? I kinda like my externals.

I have a 30.9 150mm external fox transfer that I'll be selling in a week or two. (Currently with silverfish getting a service)
It's only about 6 months old and bought from new.

Getting a new frame so I'll be switching to internal

It'll be post only, no lever of you want one cheapish?
