I desperately need the above, but cannot find one anywhere. please someone tell me the best place to look?! As far as I can tell, the crown race needs to be 36 degrees to fit the binding interface - does this sound correct?
help!

so you need a standard campag style integrated headset with 45 degree bearings? the crown race should come with the headset. or am i not quite understanding?

I have this headset - FSA orbit 1.5 ZS (No 57)
http://www.fullspeedahead.com/products/290/Orbit-15-ZS---NO-57
• 1.5" / 1-1/8" Steerer
• 36°/ 45° ACB
• For tapered 50mm /62mm OD headtube
• Alloy top cap
• Upper: Forged alloy cup with Angular Contact Bearings
• Lower: 1.5" CNC machined alloy cup with Angular Contact Bearings
• Stack Height 16.9+2.9=19.8mm

On the tech sheet it tells me what crown race i need, but No one seems to have it.

The reason for needing is that I am changing from a reducer crown race to a 1.5" as I have new tapered forks

ok so you can probably use a hope crown race as their equivilant bottom race has a 45 deg inner angle. hope this helps. pardon the pun. the seals will be different though probably.

thanks for trying, but I need a race to fit 36 degree bearings, otherwise would have gone with hope. Headset only came oem with the reducer race, hence changing the forks has led me to needing a new race.

36 degree will be the top bearing. the bottom will be 45.
i would call wind wave and have a word with their tech guys.

nice one, I have emailed them. based on the diagram of the lower bearing and crown race below, is it 36 degrees or 45? I'm confused

you could possibly just replace the bearing: http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/index.php?cPath=61 and buy a crown race to match. SS or hope do 45deg crown races but the hope will have a lip that may not work with your headset (or may work well)

Or I had a feeling Cane Creek had 36/45 bearings and looking at the photo here would suggest I am correct: http://www.probikekit.com/uk/components/headsets/headset-spares-accessories/cane-creek-40-series-cartridge-bearings-1-5-52mm.html

Google for a cane creek 1.5" crown race and they are nice and cheep.

Hi all, thanks for the help. I managed to find the correct race from two seperate suppliers today. FSA themselves were very helpful. I didnt think it would be so complicated, but apparently the tolerances between races and bearings are very fine?!

cheers
