How do I find out what size/thread it is? I need to buy a converter to fit my turbo trainer.

What axle and what turbo? If its direct drive then you can use the axle you have.
I got a bargain on a kinetic rock and roll a mile from me at a time when you can't buy an entry level smart turbo for love nor money. But my bike is through axle.kind of answered my own question as having pulled out the rear axle it is 12mm p1.5. Now as the turbo will seem to take anything it can grip on,will any turbo trainer through axle of the same spec fit? Like this

Syntace X12 is 1mm pitch (thin kinetic traxle)
maxle is 1.75mm (coarse Kinetic traxle)
