So my 2015 giant trance sx died today 😐 rear axle snapped on a fire road and sent the mech into the rear wheel bending the frame on its way. Going to attempt to see if Giant will do anything under warranty but not holding much hope.

Basically after recommendations for a 140mm frame I could transfer the parts over to.

Cheers

Ogden

Cotic Flare (130mm) or Rocket (150mm)? Both awesome.

Aeris (never ridden one but seem to get rave reviews).

Another trance?

Sorry I mean it needs to fit a 140mm shock

Don't frames generally come with a rear shock if new or 2nd hand?

What they said, plus, just checking, but you realise 140mm refers to the rear wheel travel, not the shock? Various length and stroke shocks can all be made to give 140mm at the rear wheel.

I believe it's only a 200x51 shock which is quite short for a 140mm bike.

Ogden. My trance broke exactly the same way as yours, giant didn't want to know about it. I ended up going for last year's transition patrol, far better bike imho.

Have a look at Bird Aeris
The boys at Bird have a couple of 140 frames on special offer
Full lifetime warranty that is transferable
I’m biased as having one but awesome bikes

The Cotic Flare takes a 200x51, just saying 😉

Just dropped it off with the closest giant shop. The bloke seemed pretty positive about the chances of it being done under warranty, won’t get my hopes up yet though.

Just to add that it maybe easier for you to buy a frame with shock to transfer the bits over to - likely to be difficult to find another frame that needs the exact same shock travel / fixing kit etc.

Loads of bikes have around 140mm travel - but can massively vary in length / head angle / seat angle etc.

You're going to have to check axle standards / be and crank standards / seat post size / headset size and steerer length etc.

The easiest option maybe to get exactly the same frame you have now.

Offered a new rear triangle out of good will, it’s better than nothing I guess. Still means new rear wheel, mech, chain and axle.

Also it’s a different colour rear triangle 😆
