Anyone run 130mm forks instead of the 120mm Santa Cruz recommend for the frame?
Will I end up pulling 30ft wheelies for the first time in my life or will it be ok until I can send my forks away for a service and get adjusted down to 120mm?
Cheers
Absolutely fine in fact I find it lessens pedal strike substantially (talking tallboy 3 not sure about previous iterations).
i think it’s (tb3) designed to take up to 130mm if I remember correctly
I'm also running 130s on a TB3. Using flat bars to keep the front as low as I can go. I do like low stack though. I think most people would be hard pressed to notice 10mm of difference!
TB3 is designed for 130mm with 27+, which is how I run mine. I can’t bring myself to swap to 120mm (as recommended) for 29” wheels, and at 130 find the front a bit too high with 29, so only really run it as 27+
I keep meaning to experiment with more sag and a couple of tokens to make the spring rate more progressive as an alternative way to reduce A2C for 29” wheels
Ok guys thanks for input, mine's a TB 2.
Just finished building it up, not ridden yet so no doubt tweaks to be done from what's shown.
I do need it highish at the front so will need some spacers under the stem. Not a lot difference in weight to the Tallboy LT I've taken the parts off, comes in at 29.2lb which was more than I thought it would be. If I get on with it I will lighten it a tad but it's never going to be a lightweight 29er I guess being a trail type rather than xc 29er.

130 mm will be more fun.
That's all.
