Hello all. I am wanting to replace my 120mm rebas with a slightly longer fork to raise the bb on my camber. I have seen quite a few custom builds with the camber frame (2011, 26") where people have run 130 mm forks....ideally I was looking at something like the RS revelations BUT I believe the 2013 version cannot be spaced down to 130 easily like the 2012. I have found 2012 versions online but they are still >500 squids.
I need a standard 1 1/8 steerer which constrains my choice a bit as all new forks seem to be tapered! 15mm / 20 mm maxle will be good too.
I know nothing about recent fox offerings. Always run Maz or RS forks. Can the float 32 140s be spaced down to 130 by simply adding internal spacer?
I am not interested in talas or adjustable travel shocks.
If anyone could point me to any good deals / forks I would be most grateful .....oh and I would also consider any other brands too!
Cheers 🙂
I'd look at the axle to crwon measurements as much as the travel.
Work out how much extra a-c you need to raise the BB the amount you want and then buy a fork to match.
Yes Float 32 140s can normally be spaced down easily. You should be able to get a decent set second-hand for around 200 sheets and a 10mm travel spacer for a few quid. Thats what I'd do
Thanks guys - wwwwwwwas - I am aiming for a 0.5 degree raise on the head angle...so 10 mm extra on the length of fork. As I said, many people run 130's on the camber because the bb is quite low And you need to time pedal strokes on the trail as not to smack it! Especially as I tend to run more -ve air in my rebas to keep them really plush.
The fox 32 140s with spacer sound good 🙂 ..... Will focus my search a bit on these.
Fox 140 (Float, Van or Talas) is almost the same axle to crown length as a Revelation 130.
Fox 140 - 510.9mm
RS Revelation at 130mm with Maxle - 508mm or with QR 511mm
I'd buy whatever RS Sektor you can find cheapest with the right axle and steerer (Merlin have the TK solo-air with 20mm maxle) and then get the dual-flow rebound and, at least, an RLT damper from a Rev into it. In fact, that's exactly what I did a few months ago. Comes to about the same price as the cheapest Rev you'll find and you have the 20mm Maxle that Revs don't come with anymore.
Cheers again guys - will go measure my atc length now on my rebas to see how that compares.
I'm curious why you want to raise the BB height specifically? More travel is usually the cry, but the sacrifice is a raised BB and therefore centre of gravity (supposedly worse cornering).
I ask because if you are trying avoid rock strikes you aren't really going to see any difference. Adding 10mm to the front will only raise the BB by about 3mm and that's assuming you don't run the new fork slightly softer because you now have more travel. You could run the rear suspension at a higher pressure which would have more of an effect but it does also slightly negate the whole point of having the suspension!
I'm not trying to be a [s]typical STWer[/s] know-it-all but sometimes it's a good idea to stand back and see if you have the right plan. Maybe you need a change of frame instead of just a new fork? (I don't own a bike shop either)

No you have a fair point Mark 🙂 then but the camber frame runs runs really well at +120 (I know because I ran 135 mm pikes on it for about 5 months before having to give them back!). Suits my riding very well.
The stock rebas are fine but the little extra height on the front really helps coupled with the ctd bv rear shock makes a great fast combo.
Again, lots of people run 130s over the 120s so I cannot be alone in my thinking 🙂
