[Closed] 120mm suspension to rigid 26" forks - just use 29'er forks?

I have some cheap pair of Suntour 120mm forks which I want to replace with rigid forks. My problem is most 26" forks are for 80mm or 100mm correction.

The 120mm "suspension" forks I have now have a A2C length of around 495mm, so assuming 25% sag (if there were ever achievable!) should I order a rigid fork with a corresponding A2C of (495 - 25%x120) 465mm to maintain head tube angle and trail, assuming the forks have the similar offsets, which typically are close to 40mm?

29'er forks are generally 465mm, with most 26" forks (80 to 100mm correction) and measure up at 425mm to 445mm in length.

Am I thinking a nice pair of 29'er 465mm forks are the ones to go for?

Thanks.

i've done exactly as you suggest.

swapped a set of 100-130mm Revs for 29er Surly forks. it keeps the front end high, but after one proper off-road ride i'm dying to put a squidgy fork back on!

Or 26" rigid forks with a 29er front wheel, which might work surprisingly well. Or not.

I've done the same, with the x-lite 470mm forks. I fitted 440mm forks originally and rode them for months, they were ok, but the BB was painfully low and the head-angle a bit steep. Sort of OK on a SS as riding it is more about cranking up hills than quick descending, but the problem was obvious. I had to run 30mm of spacers as the bars were too low, so these came out and my riding position is largely unaltered.

Not ridden it yet, but looks like it will fly.
