I'm having a bit of a love affair with the big wheeled version but the Orbea Occam is worth a look if you can find someone who stocks it. Really nicely made bikes and I guess their popularity in the UK is only going to grow.

Definitely consider the Ghost AMR. Trail bike of the year in various test, coming out tops against Trek,Spesh, Giant etc. Have owned one they are awesome.

For Camber in 26er you'd need to look for an Expert model in 2012 flavour to get the tapered head tube. I know as I have got one. Also they will only come in 29er from now on.

Trek Fuel-had tapered headset for a few years now. The newest ones (2013?) are 130mm travel but previous years are 120mm. Won a few bike of the year awards recently too.

Yep - the Camber Expert gets the tapered tube and the 142mm bolt through rear.

Cambers are ace. I know, because I have one.

Will second the rocky mtn element msl
you can pick up a 11 frameset from canada
for around £800 plus shipping /tax.
A fantastically light chuckable great
climbing bike, rides like you have more than
the 120mm,
don't follow the crowds
join the canuck crew 😀

Just been into the LBS looking at the same, the Trance looks v. nice in the flesh.

Anyone had a chance to compare the Trance to a 'Dale RZ120?

I went from a 2005 Enduro to a 2011 Trance X3. I'm still blown away by how capable the Trance is! 🙂

Hi hitman, own and ride a 2011
rm element msl a really fun bike
to ride.
Sub 25lb super efficient climber
well balanced confidence inspiring
descender to, feels more of a trail
than xc machine.
Bdh bikes in canada have the 11
version in 18/19 in the cherry red
which i have, paint job is superb.
As i also ride a hummer and 5 spot
it's my go to bike now.

Ghost 5900 gets my vote, it's an awesome bike and has 50% off at CRC at the mo... Don't think you'll get a better bike for £1075 personally

I had a Dale RZ120, and really liked it. My only complaint was Cannondales strange choice of Mix/match components, which made upgrades/resale tricky.

For example, Fox Float 120 fork, with a 1.5 steerer, but QR - WTF??

It rode well though! Suspension platform really stable.

OK, not a nice looking frame, but look at the kit, and as cheap as some of the frames above.
Keep your HT?

'Alpine Cross' finally a marketing term I can relate to
