Any ovals, other than Absolute Black, that can do 12 speed (Sram DM fitting)?

AB are good but not cheap.

cheers all. Went Superstar in the end, as they are definitely ok with 12.

Superstar are great on Shimano. Absolute black definitely don’t work with Shimano 12 speed. I have one spare to prove it!

May be a silly question but what are the benefits from an oval chain ring over a standard round one?

Careful with Shimano 12 speed, the teeth profile is different. AB do a Shimano specific version though.

I tested a new 12spd Shimano chain on a spare (round, new) Superstar ring, on the workbench, and it was fine. All links perfectly seated.

Interesting that some said Works was okay but when I tested one it wasn't 'quite' 100%. Maybe okay when on the bike, under power, but the links weren't quite seated properly*.

Likewise, I tested a AB and it was okay but again, not perfectly seated.

As Sam said, I suspect this needs a little care with Shimano chains. If the chain isn't seated properly then maybe ring wear would be increased? Or indeed the chain may be put under excessive side loads? I've not read any reports of 12spd chains breaking though...

*[note a KMC 12spd seats fine on the same ring though]

I want to get an oval chainring for my 12sp Shimano xt, but I'm struggling to find any that are Shimano direct mount, apart from the £60 AB ones. Any other ones out there at the moment that are closer to the £30-40 range?

Thanks
