Does 12 speed Shimano and SRAM play nicely together?
I'm thinking shimano XT mech/XTR shifter and GX cassette/chain?

As an aside, how does micro-spline compare weight wise to XD interms of free hub and cassette.
I know the more you spend potentially the less weight, but just in general terms is one lighter than the other and any data on longevity of both?

It does but all Shimano shifts better.

I have Shimano shifter+ mech with a Sram cassette and chain and it's fine but my mate's all Shimano is better, particularly upshifts. If I was replacing the drivetrain I'd go all XT next time.

No difference in freehub weight. XT cassette is 476g and SLX is 537g, as I weighed some recently. I can't remember what the Sram weighed though.

Yep my bike was all GX, just swapped the rear mech for shimano m6100 12 spd deore and it shifts better than ever, and is lower profile.

If I had the choice I would go hyperglide+ (microspline) shimano everything as its better shifting than sram.
