You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello great experts of Singletrack. I'm looking to get a 2nd set of wheels for the CX bike to prevent having to swap tyres so much. Here are my criteria:
- Tubeless ready and happy to take lower CX tyre pressures
- 11sp shimano (road, not MTB) compatible
- Disc brakes
- Budget of £300-£350
Wheels will be used for all CX offroad duties including some CX racing and some bikepacking. Am happy to go factory or handbuilt.
What sort of thing is out there?
Hope hoops with Stans Iron Cross rims should fit the bill.
Kinesis? very pleased with mine.
Not iron cross but the newer Stans Grail on Hope hubs, had some for over a year now, mega. You can put road tyres on a inflate to over 100 psi which is a massive benefit over the iron cross rims.
I built some (well just a rear, I already had a front) with Crests, Novatec hub & Sapim race spokes. Work nicely.
Hmm. Kinesis aren't tubeless as far as I can tell.
The Grails on Hope are a bit over budget and quite heavy.
thanks for the thoughts so far though
Any others?
EDIT: Hang on. Looks like the kinesis are tubeless ready. Win.
What's the best off the shelf option with a 15mm front hub? Similar money to the kinesis would be handy
