In the market for a new 11sp chain

What’s the general consensus - shimano vs kmc vs sram, any point in spending more than £20 for an slx or kmc x11 93

going on a nearly new xt cassette if that makes a difference

Never had an issue with Ultegra / XT 11 speed chains.

Once upon a time, SRAM and KMC won this duel because, well, master link. But now Shimano officially embrace them, it's whichever is nearest/cheapest.

My experience with inexpensive chains is that they seem part-worn already and are no doubt manufactured when the tooling has worn close to its limits. Packed full of crappy grease they seem ok for a while and then die.

Wippermann Connex have been premier league for me - the bike wears out before the chain - but if you don't want to spend that much then a normal KMC X11

Well after more research

https://bikerumor.com/2018/01/29/wippermann-11-speed-wear-test-finds-connex-11sx-chain-lasts-longest/

Have gone for Wipperman Connex, extra lifespan makes it seem good value. Either that or I’m a victim of wipperman propaganda.

+1 Wipperman if you want the best.

+1 otherwise cheap KMC X11, which can be had for £16 last time I looked.

KMC X11-93 off of eBay. £15 means I don't mind replacing every 5-6 months to keep the cassette in good shape.
