So while I've been waiting for the SLX/XT 12 speed to land in shops, I've been having a think.
Instead of going for 12 speed by default, why don't I just go 11 speed XTR with an XT11-46 cassette?
I've never tried M9000 XTR and it would be replacing a tired GX/X1 groupset that's a few years old. The 46t cog would be plenty with a 32t up front for my trail bike.
Having roughly worked it out, it comes out around 230g lighter (give or take). Had a quick look on here, Pinkbike and eBay last night to see if I could spot any bargains, but no one seems to be selling any decent second hand stuff at the moment.
Anyone that is, wants similar money to new components! Does this seem a good idea, or am I being stupid? 🙂 Oh, it works out quite a bit cheaper even if I buy new (not having to buy a micro spline).
