So my wife's rear mech ended up in her wheel at the weekend, I think she caught a rock with it. Her bike was set up as a 1x10 with a 11-42 sunrace cassette. Would be be ok to get a 11 speed rear mech that's designed to work with the 42 tooth cassette but use it on a 10 speed shifter (SRAM xo)?

The X9 she had on there was fiddly to set up as the b limit had to be screwed far in which meant the cage didn't bend forward much meaning a longer than optimal chain length.

Got slx 11spd mech and 10spd zee shifters on the big bike, b screw clearance is no problem but the different pull ratios can make either end a bit chattery it works ok but not as slick as 10/10 or 11/11

I take it your using a 10 speed chain? That was my other question as the chainring does both.

An 11 speed Shimano derailluer works with a Shimano 10 speed shifter. SRAM combos I have no idea.
