My KMC X11 Super Light 11 Speed Chain has worn out and needs replacing, I was wondering if its worth spending £40 again when you have options like sram x1 chain thats only 20g heavier and less than half the price?
SRAM will snap just looking at it.
Stick with KMC. Just go with an X11-93, it's likewise around 20g heavier which is crap all difference really and it's super robust and fraction of the price.
Got an SL on one bike as it came with it and is in matching green, but it's getting an X11-93 to replace it when it finally goes (it's been running forever though).
The only chain I buy these days. Bargain at £23. Lasts forever, but at this price I change once per year anyway. Always stays shiny and clean - no tarnish.

It's a funny old game isn't it. I'd say the complete opposite. I had a KMC and kept dropping, no problem with Sram.
KMC when back pedaled dropped of 42t cog didnt with sram chain
I think the cassette also plays a part in that. My kmc chain in a Hope cassette with a less than perfect chain line doesn't drop.

Don't back pedal then 😛
FWIW, my KMC doesn't do this back pedalling.
+1 for KMC X11-EL.
I'd ignore people making melodramatic statements about one brand or another.
Shimano 105 & Sram budget 11sp chains have both been totally fine for me.
Always used Sram chains in general - one up from the. botton one so the pins are stainless so don't rust.
Had to buy a Shimano one for my commuter bike as that's all the local bike shop had in stock - that's been fine too - just had the slightly less user friendly joining pin (10 speed).
The only Kmc chain I've had snapped on the second ride and the shop I got the bike from didn't have a joining link they could sell / provide me with so they replaced it with a Sram chain.
There's a reason why most my friends switched to KMC, and a reason why snapped chains seem to be a thing of the past on our rides. The two are related I feel 😛
Also in my experience I can run the thing to death for way longer.
Shimano - screw that when it involves fiddly silly pin and directional chain. Only had a couple with them on our rides and sure enough snapped chain and then what a faff to fix it!
KMC quick links work fine with Shimano chains so I've never bothered with the joining pin.
+1 KMC is a safe bet. Having said that I've converted to Connex for that last lot. Easily as good, although the KMC link is better.
