I have a a hope pro2 evo rear wheel on my hardtail and I wish to increase the gear range with a 10t sprocket on the cassette. Currently it's is 11 speed xtr with 11-44 cassette. What are my options ?

I already run a 34t chainring and can't go any larger.

Is it a case that I need to upgrade to 12spd and will I then need a new wheel/wheelset?

If so it could be new bike time 😁

AFAIK a 10 won't fit on an HG freehub

You'd need a new XD or Microspline freehub, then can fit a Sram XD (11 or 12 speed) or a Shimano Microspline (12 speed only) cassette with a 10t

You can get both XD and Microspline freehub bodies for a Pro2 Evo... about £80.
Then with either you can fit a cassette with a 10 tooth small cog.

A full NX Eagle non-boost drivetrain groupset from CRC for £200. 11-50, fits on your freehub. I got one for my Mk1 Cotic Soul (added a DUB BB) and it's put a new lease of life onto it. I justified the purchase on the basis my NX equipped e-bike would need a new cassette soon anyway but I'm really enjoying riding the Cotic. I'll probably upgrade the chain as soon as it starts to stretch.

There's often a few cheap Sram XD hope freehubs on ebay, and you could likely sell your shimano one for the same price

Yeah the reason they had to redesign the freehub body for 12sp was because the old one was just too big for a 10t sprocket.

So am I correct in thinking i need a sram xd freehub for a hope pro 2 evo and a sram 11 speed 10-44 cassette and my existing xtr mech will be compatible?

Pedal faster, it's cheaper.

E Thirteen do a 9-46 cassette (11spd)but it uses an xd freehub and they're upwards of £200, I've been using one (just replaced it after 3 n a bit years) with Shimano chains and xtr mech without any issues
