Is there any reason why I can't use a front 10spd mech on 9spd? I can get a better deal on 10 spd !

Might just need to be a bit more careful about the initial placement, as the cages can be a bit narrower than the 7/8/9 spd f-mechs.

I have a 10speed mech on my HT which is still 9speed elsewhere. No issues at all.

sram or shimano? if it's a shimano dynasys then you will struggle getting it perfect as they are designed to run with different front gearing
