Are you mixing 4600 shifters and 4700 rear mech or vice versa? They're not compatible.

yes, all routed correct.

it skips the 3rd cog from the bottom. and wont go in the largest cog.
this is not a problem as I have a very low cassette on.

the indexing is a pita

hanger is straight.

took road sti shifters off to fit flat bars and shifters.
rode in 15 mile with road set up this morning.

help please.

Last time I had similar, i came to the conclusion i'd just made a balls up of it, undid the cable from the mech, started again, and confirmed I had indeed just made a balls up of it.

My guess is that it’s something that’s already been mentioned above or a combination of more than one of them. The new road stuff has some odd little idiosyncrasies which even the best of us get wrong.
I’d be having a s come look at the cable routing and hanger alignment for a start, no matter how good you think you’ve got them..! 🙂
Also - rear wheel in straight? New cables? Cables correctly located in ferrules? Stuff like that....

everything checked and perfect. new cables, new housing new ferrules.
wheel in straight, as it was this morning when working fine with road set up.

I shall keep looking

Is the cassette moving on the freehub (10 speed needs spacer on 11 speed freehub)?
Does the freehub have any play in it?

Did you replace/change the cassette and maybe missed or misplaced a spacer?

Is the rear mech 4700 if so this could be the problem

Only compatible with the new 4700 shifters due to a change in pull ratio

Your shifters could be a different pull ratio

shifters were from crc. i bet a million to 1 that is the problem.
they were oem i think. turned up in a plastic bag, not a shimano box.

There are no 4700 cassettes. Tiagra level cassettes went from 4600 to HG500. Not really an issue, any Shimano or sram 10spd cassette will work (as long as the largest sprocket is no more that 34t)
