Hi guys,
I run my tiagra 10sp deraileur on a 36t cassette even tho it's only rated to 34t. Works fine with no issues.
I need a new deraileur and can only get a 105 11sp locally today which I believe is compatible with my 4720 tiagra shifters.
Again its rated to 34t. Will it run on a 36t?
Thanks
Not done it myself, but read 11-40 works with a goatlink.
The simple answer is ‘it might’
Depends on how much B screw adjustment you have and also if you don’t have a slack chain in the small chainring combos. But if you have it working with tiagra then no reason why 105 won’t play well instead
That'll do for me. Thanks
If it doesn't I know the Goatlink works as I was just running one of these with my Ultegra mech on a 40t cassette till I got a GRX mech.
I’ve previously run a 105 with a SRAM 11-36 with no issues whatsoever. It was 1x if that makes a difference…

I have done exctly this just fine
The Tiagra and 105 medium cage are both rated to 34 teeth and are fine are were fine on my 34 tooth 10 speed cassette
I can confirm the 105 GS mech works perfectly the 36t cassette.
(And grx 400 10 speed shifters)
