Hi,
I bought a Shimano Deore M532 Middle Chainring, 104mm, 32t but it doesnt fit right on my crank as the mount tabs are 1mm larger(check photo)
Will Shimano 104 PCD Deore M510 4 Arm Middle Chainring, fit my crank?
I measured my old chainring and the mount tab should be 2mm long from the hole.
Get a file out and just 'adjust' the ring (file off equal amounts from each tab of the ring in small amounts until it fits), it won't affect the 'strength' of the ring & I've been doing it for years to make rings fit.
Trying to locate the 'correct' ring is just painful & normally just more expense for the sake of 5 minutes filing.
i think its bodge time for the OP as z1ppy suggests
If you want advice as to what fits your crank, it is a good idea to tell us what your crank is.
I had to get the file out when I bought the same ring to fit onto an older 9 spd deore crank. Now it's fitted and all working.
my crank is truvativ isoflow , 8 speed
cheers
I could return a get one that will fit, or file this one.
If to return, which one should i get?
if you're going to return the chainring then i'd suggest you get a truvativ ring instead of a shimano one
I filed the ally tabs rather than the steel ring. Means I can keep buying Deore steel middle rings and not have to do the job again.
Wife's bike, Truvativ cranks, wife was still alive as of 8:30 this morning.
And I've done the same on mine, now I think about it. Salsa ring, LX cranks.
