Old guy who visited the shop I worked in used to ask for punctured tubes out of the bin.
One time I made the mistake of asking what he used them for.....
He used them on camping trips. He'd cut them open into a length of tubing, and at night he'd slip one end over his old fella, and stick the other end out of the tent so that he didn't have to get up in the middle of the night.
Had always found him pretty creepy beforehand and this confirmed my feelings.

Cut out the valve with only a slight 'flare' of rubber left on the base of it. (Trial and error will show how much you need to leave on).
Drill a valve stem +a bit sized hole in coke bottle cap - insert valve from inside.
The 'flare' of rubber should hold the valve in place, but should eventually come out under pressure.
Screw top back on coke bottle.
Attach the track pump and get pumping...Experiment with a bit of water in the bottom of the bottle for added boost (and soaking).
If that does not work so well, replace cap with a drilled wine cork and valve shoved through.

I use this on non-Stans rims, needs 20" Schwalbe (has threaded metal stem for Schrader) inner tube.
I use mine in the back of my car, loop hitched over the grab handles, one each side. Holds bikes upright in cars that only require front wheel removal to fit in upright (people carriers etc). The other end over the frame and over a pedal etc.
Cur the valves out and use them in a tubeless wheelset. Saves about £15
Use 4 or more of them, maybe make one of those 'adult' swings...
neil the wheel - it does work.
I use old inner tubes for tree ties, and in the car for generic ties/straps.
We used them to stop our rabbit nibbling through the cables of our garden lights
