I have the DT Swiss RWS thru axles and they're great, but not secure and If possible I'd like to avoid the hassle of locking up my front wheel to the rest of my bike. Are there any quality anti-theft 100x9 mm thru axles out there?

They have them for 12 mm axles but haven't seen any for 9 mm!

My Roadrat (circa 2012) came with an Allen key 100x9 front axel. Looks just like a normal qr, just without the qr bit. Not super secure as you only need an Allen key- but better than nothing.

Unfortunately I don't know who makes them.. possibly Alex as that was the only brand name on the wheels so I assume the hubs were also theirs

Found one from Hadley https://www.balleracing.com/hadley-front-hub-thru-bolts/hadley-thru-bolt-9mm-x-100mm which you could add hexlocks to for a secure system. You only need to unscrew one side so almost as practical as the DT swiss system. Only problem is you can only get it from the us.. $$$

Pitlock (Germany) do through-axles as well.

l.e. sadly, not 9mm; I think your best bet would be to use a solid axle from a cup and cone system and two 9mm anti-theft nuts.

Also, I'm willing to bet the red bit of the RWS unscrews (probably with some heating to soften the threadlock), leaving you with a stand-alone handle, a spring and a tamper-proof axle.

l.e: As I suspected:

Interesting! What does the axle look like without the handle?

A splined nub, you can peek at the splines if you pull on the lever:

Nothing a pair of mole grips and some determination can't handle, but still, some protection.

I tried to unscrew it, but wouldn't budge using a normal plier and no heat. Nice way to mess up the red anodizing though 😳

Ok, I just went in with some needle nose pliers; there's no threadlock.

Knipex pliers are damn sharp! There was some white threadlocker on, believe that's what you see in the center.
