Looking at fork options for a 29er race bike (Kinesis FF29).

I'm not prepared to pay silly money for forks (which writes off most Fox unless on an amazing deal - just silly money after market).

Will be looking for tapered steerer, QR15 or equivalent and 100mm travel (might go for 120mm if the price was right). Looking for something nice and light as I'm a short/light rider, so don't want a heavy build. Not fussed for lots of adjustment - I prefer to fit and forget, so the simpler the better.

Current front runner is the Reba RL on offer at Merlin for £319. I like the idea of the Magura TS8 SL (or R) 29er, but nobody seems to do them in the UK (or at least not at sensible money).

Any other good options? X-Fusion seem to be getting okay reviews, but seem a little heavier than the Rebas and Maguras.

Fire away...

The x fusion do seem to be loved by everybody, but still seem slightly lardy for my liking.

What do the Sids offer over the Rebas nowadays? The SID RLS seem to be about the same weight as the Reba RL, which the same features on the merlin spec page. Do internal differences justify the £60 extra?

Y'know.. Looking closer at em I have no idea, same lowers, same weight, same damper and air spring, they seem to be the same fork with different stickers, which is a bit bollocks..
Get the Rebas unless crc have some of the cheap F29's left.. They had some good deals on revs and Marzocchis not long ago and all...

Try Manitou Tower - light, cheap, reliable and as fit-and-forget as you can get. Manitou have a bad past reputation hence the low price (but so does Marzocchi...) I've yet to find any owner who hates them! The qr15 is a bit fiddly but gives a very positive lock on engagement. Small bump plushness is excellent.
