£100k in bikes (yes, one hundred thousand pounds!) worth of bikes, stolen from LIOS in Hampshire.
11 bikes including LIOS, Santa Cruz & Zerode - pictures In the link.
I mean, thats more like £60k at the moment.... 😉
£100,000? Is that what they're telling their insurers?
Or is that a figure that gets plod to take notice?
My immediate first thought was how the hell do you rob an entire shipping containers worth of bikes? Then realised what £100k actually gets you.
£100k on 11 bikes? Aye right.
The entire run of 10 special edition Atherton DH bikes isn't even worth that! https://www.wideopenmountainbike.com/2023/09/atherton-bikes-launch-limited-edition-world-champs-am-200

At £9650 a piece, £96,500 is pretty damn close to £100,000.
A ten grand bike is hardly unusual these days.
Each one was a custom build apparently, so it'll be based on RRP of parts. Even if it's 60k in value to the shop that's a huge hit for any business to take. Some were also customers bikes.
I'd not heard of Lios. But that Ti hardtail in the report is a lovely looking bike.

Half a dozen top end road bikes 😉
Really bad news as it is a huge amount of money...the sad bit is that it is 'only' 11 bikes for that amount of money...it is eye-watering how much money people can spend on bikes. Aware it is their money to spend on whatever they like, but it is a serious amount of money to spend.
Hopefully they'll be recovered.

Scrotes prob only had space for 11 bikes in the vehicle they used so went with the highest values bikes they could pick up.... I'm sure that there were also 1k bikes at the location.
Watching the video of the break in, it looks like a real targetted break in, multiple thieves, van and moped parked out of range of camera, faces covered and petrol disc cutters. It seems once shops are targetted unless they are employing onsite security the thieves will still get in! I bet even with Security they'd still get them Oceans 11 style!

I've actually ordered all 10 of those so they gave me a bit of a discount. I wanted 9 different sizes plus a Grim Donut version.
just to throw a cat among the pidgeons..
I could see this and / or arson becoming a thing, if bikes just aren't selling..
hopefully economy will pick up next year
ps. i do not have any connection or knowledge of this bike shop until i saw this post :0)
and clearly havent watched any videos;

Our local Rutland e-bike store was targeted like this, they broke in through the roof, disabled cameras and alarms, then emptied the store into vans and left without a trace...
35 ebikes in total

oh wow, really did them over. I remembered since typing my comment that didnt thieves target a lorry driver last year? I wanna say it was full of Shimano parts and they gassed the driver before robbing the contents of the truck?

35 ebikes through a hole in the roof? Did they use a crane or something?!?

Once they'd disabled alarms and CCTV, they just opened the shutters and wheeled them all out to the waiting vans....
No one had put movement sensors nor CCTV on the roof, hence they got in that way. Obvs knew exactly what they were doing.

All security can realistically do is call the police, they won't be able to stop the robbery happening.
I find this interesting - what are they going to do with a £10k bike? surely as stolen goods its only worth a fraction of its ticket price?
Unless they're taking them abroad?
I know if i was paying four figures for a bike i wouldn't be buying it from a guy in the pub or an add on FB Marketplace.
Although having said that i had a run-in with some very shady looking teenagers a few months ago who rode up beside me asking how much my bike was worth, etc - they were all riding high-end full sus e-bikes...
Chuck the frames in a lake and sell the parts on ebay. People won't question paying £600 on a £1000 wheelset or forks nearly new on there. Not hard to see around £1200 per bike minimum in secondhand new/other ebay sales basically untraceable if they are built with Gucci parts.
I'd never heard of these guys but saw them at the Malverns show. Bikes look nice, although I am a sucker for Gulf blue/orange colours.
Hope they manage to find the scum that stole them.

I read somewhere that a lot of stolen nice road bikes become hire bikes in Europe in areas popular with cyclists.

sounds like lots of brands and distributors are sat on lots of inventory.. tough if you can't sell it and your loan repayments are still being made.. especially as everything's paid in full pre-production from China etc now.
Insider chatter that we might even see some bigger brands fail soon, not just the small guys selling outdated geo chiner catalogue frames.
Thieves suck.
