You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Out of isolation yesterday so am rejoining despite losing about 12 days, will continue after Xmas and maybe do a dry Jan/exercise medley. Yesterday was an hour's walk with the family down ulverston canal and an hour on the road bike for starters and will be a lunch run today.
Last week:
A bit of a quieter one overall and a photo fail!
Mon - bike ride locally, out to Blackamoor and houndkirk area
Tues - ran in the evening with other half, up onto Totley moss
Wed - ride after work mainly on the road on commute bike
Thurs - meeting after work but managed to ride to it mainly via Monsal trail, at end of meeting rode back, forgot I was heading back uphill on trail and then big climb at the end to get back to the car!
Fri - rode to the pub and short walk
Sat - Dig day in LAdy Cannings - my arms tell me this has pretty much covered my exercise requirements until Christmas.
Sun - exciting Trellis building in day so managed a short evening run after.
I've been a bit out the loop with the thread this year (I've been keeping up to date with it on a Whatsapp chat with some pals in Switzerland). Here's some highlights - I've not missed a day yet.
Hiking the Tarmachan Ridge on Saturday.

Gravel bimble around St Boswells on Sunday

Up Ben Ledi

Done a lot of playing in the Tweed Valley

Slashed my leg open at Yair - I thought this we going to put the brakes on things but a few steristrips have sorted out what's actually a really deep gash and it's no made any difference.

Got out with pals quite a bit more than I usually do for the challenge.

Explored some old haunts in Fife.

Done absolutely loads of gravel, usually around 45 miles. And occassionally got very wet.

Has a few splashes in kayaks.

Even did a bit of road riding.

Lovely photos (except the leg!)
Missed your contributions munro.I,m sensing people, are struggling alot more with the challenge this year. With what's going on it's not surprising really.Well done everybody for keeping on.
Saturday I managed a good 90 minute blast on the gravel bike.
Sunday was a family ride from Burghead to Findhorn and back. A lovely 25km with a hot chocolate stop halfway. Brilliant!

Still keeping on top of this. My low exercise days usually result in a little walk around the streets of an evening at the moment. But getting in the required amount.
Not as tired as I was at the beginning of the month and noticing some weight loss too, I don't really have much weight to lose but my belt, already on its final hole, is beginning to slacken off slightly.
Drumming everyday has not happened unfortunately.
I'm gonna flip it around for new year, 30 minutes of drumming everyday (minimum) and throw in the bodyweight exercises as much as I can. I've noticed, even with a couple of weeks of drumming daily, a good improvement in consistency.
Gonna be busy later so snuck in a run before lunch
Still in, Saturday was a rubbish 5 mile run in the rain before langholm chilli festival.
Sunday was post beer evening turbo which was no fun. Today will be a repeat of the 5miler but in sunshine.
4 mile run was all I could be arsed doing tonight.
That us at 40 now?.
40 minute walk with the kids & dog this evening, it'll do.
Yep 40 days!
Sun: 45 minutes on the trials bike - this time not for a ride with the kids.
Mon: 45 minutes bodyweight exercise in the shed (combined with shed tidying during 2 minute rest between sets).
Wanting to do more but still not at full strength since sickness/cold from last week.
Well I miscounted. Thought it was 39. Retraced through my Strava entries and had a double 33.
Another late Pilates session here. Hoping for abs of steel at the end of this!
Sunday was a family ride from Burghead to Findhorn and back. A lovely 25km with a hot chocolate stop halfway. Brilliant!
That’s the good stuff!
Walk with my youngest joining up lots of different woods and coppices yesterday, checking out fungi and autumn leaves.
Quick nip up to the Pike this evening. Wet up top on the moors. Time to start sticking to winter trails. Beautiful out though.
Spring doesn’t have a monopoly on beautiful nature.
Cycled to work today. I am really pushed for time as I have a manic week with some pretty big deadlines; so ended up taking the road route rather than the offroad. That didn't end well - ended up carrying my bike to the LBS as I got a puncture from hell thanks to glass on the road! Should have stuck to off-road.
Tues: 45 minute lunch time run, 5.6 miles.
Think I'll be missing today, I have the superbug and feel dreadful. Dragged myself out for a walk earlier but managed only 10-15 mins.
Get well soon Jimmy.
Another awesome Lebe Stark Kettlebell session tonight, 42 mins of pain.
Pinched nerve in shoulder, old snow boarding injury. Very ouchy.
Missed yesterday AND today, so I'm out.
I'll be starting "50 days of exercise until Christmas" shortly.
APF
A quick catch up.
Tuesday evening featured a much needed yoga session. It was great to give the legs a good stretch.
Wednesday morning was a 35 minute swim in Loch Vaa. Water temperatures around 9-10 degrees and still wearing a suit at this time of year. The crannog is now sticking out of the water and so is easy to find.

(I should point out that photo is taken with a VERY long lens and the crannog is around 300 metres from that shoreline in the background.)
Wednesday afternoon was a short walk with Mrs S and a couple of snaps using my new phone.

I rode my bike for half an hour yesterday for fresh air, felt better but far from good. See how today goes.
Went for a run yesterday morning. Only a 5k zone 3 run but the dodgy ribs hurt a lot more this morning. So think I'm going to have to bow out for this year until it's properly healed 🙁
Beefcake (hnnnggg) with 2*10l adblue containers filled with water, plus bodyweight stuff last night
40 mins on the turbo tonight but have eaten a lot of crackers, crisps and a garlic and chorizo scotch egg out of sheer boredom today
Weds: 1h15m upper bodyweight strength: 5x30s chest to wall handstands, 5x10 bodyweight rows, 5x10 push ups, 3x16 knee raises on dips bars, 3x45s tucked upside down hangs on dips bars. reached very close to failure a few times.
Thurs: discovered very little left in the tank for a 45minute lunch time trials ride. was struggling with just basics. 30 minutes gentle yoga for upper body in evening.
Hope all those with illness and injury feel better ASAP.
Wed: more Pilates. I think there might actually be signs of some stomach muscles!
Thursday: off-road commute. And a really lovely sunrise. Smug start to the working day.
Friday: home garage gym before breakfast with the programme my PT gives me. Have a feeling my legs might ache tomorrow.
Right…best get on with some work.
Spin on the Occam
Autumnal colours developing.

Last of this years blaeberries. Taste is quite bland and watery now, but still a treat.

As ahsat says, get well soon folks. Best to recover and not push on too early though.
This thread (and the weather outlook) is also inspiring me to crack on with my home gym. Weight and strength exercises are missing from my current repertoire.
Fire training on thursday night, running about in the pissing rain with hoses and gas suits, brilliant.
10k around west end and city centre last night, bloody mild, the calm before COP26 storm.
It'll be more kettlebells today, same as Colin, been missing from my routine for too long.
Good to see Mrs SR out, about and looking well sir.
Did half an hour of Yoga last night, felt much better for it after lying about feeling like crap for the week. But still pretty ill today, so I'll try and get a walk for some fresh air at lunch time. Itching to get back to where I felt I was feeling fit last week - always seems to come before an illness, maybe I do too much as a result.
Will be an easy weekend for sure.
Rubbish yesterday so a bit of a cop out dog walk. Today is damp but need to get out.
Not helped by this part of the border having a major incident raised a couple of days ago.
30 minutes of untracked garden trials on the trials bike yesterday followed by 30m yoga. Another 45 minutes of garden trials on the trials bike this afternoon, probably do another half hour of yoga this evening. Good job I don't have a social life errrrrr lol. I've kept feeling over the past week that everything has felt a little more difficult than usual and have been feeling more easily fatigued... Occurred to me today that perhaps it could it be 45 days of exercise every day.... 🙂
Was a bit concerned about grip today:

Well this is maybe a new one for this challenge; yesterday was an afternoon for power kiting. Burnt more cals that equivalent length gym session! Great fun, especially having not flown for over 10 years!
Today, turbo session when I get home from weekend at my parents. Feeling super happy as after 49 weeks, my VO2 max on my Garmin was back to my pre Long Covid levels. Whoop.
Good weekend of exercise.
Wee 5k with the wife this morning, she's really been struggling at work recently, her ward is ****in mental, was great to get some colour in her cheeks again.
Then at 5ish, the light looked lovely over the beach, so I popped out and had another wee chilled 5k along the waters edge. Bliss.
Just a stroll today, but also some patio digging and few random squats. 14k steps in there. Think I'm starting to feel a lot better.
Busy weekend with family commitments but I've managed to keep going.
On Friday I popped in a wee Zwift session. It felt a bit like box-ticking TBH but I'm glad I did it.
Saturday saw a wee gang of us head in to Corrour Station for lunch. It's an easy 25km each way but in superb scenery and the restaurant is amazing.
Sunday was a walk round a very soggy Loch an Eilean with Mrs S just before the dark set in. It was quite weird to see so few folk around after such a busy Spring/Summer/Autumn. That should be the start of a wee quiet spell that normally lasts until mid-December.
The weather looks dreich for the next few days so we'll see what that brings!
Liking all the photos above and good to hear what everyone is getting up to.
A definite change in the weather over the last week, started off with dry trails and fine to ride the Summer only stuff. The Peak district has liquefied rapidly after that!
Monday - afternoon ride with good light out onto some of the stuff I avoid over winter as it gets too claggy and cuts up.

Tuesday - still pretty dry, a ride round Blackamoor and houndkirk
Wednesday - short run after work, super mild
Thursday - met in the evening after work to night ride with some friends, raining hard and got back to the house needing to hose myself off in the garden!
Friday - night run along Curbar and White Edge after work
Saturday - Afternoon Peak district ride after the worst of the rain

Sunday - a walk in the woods
Sun: another garden trials session, 4 days on the trot. Yoga in the evening.
Mon: strength. 5x35s c2w hs, 5x10 bw row, 5x10 push up. I'm not strong so wasn't easy.
Bloody return of a cough/cold, joy, just as I thought the last of it was over.
Took the bairn to her maths tutor last night, walked for an hour in the pissing rain, couldn't bring myself to do much else.
I'm definitely out, another evening where I was just too busy running about after the kids and helping a pal with bike maintenance.
Off down to Glasgow tonight for the first of about 6 gigs this month so there's no chance I'll get back on track 🙂
@scotroutes - thank you, your and others' very good photos have made me get back to taking a camera or at least getting the phone out a bit more. I'd really got out of the habit but I think it helps with this 100 days thing.
Good to hear what everyone else is getting up to
Feeling better this week.
Sunday - family walk locally, plus tried some banded squats. Think I've said that already - the squats were interesting - felt my entire core had been worked yesterday.
Yesterday - rode local MTB trails. First time in a while because of being overgrown with nettles all summer. Ridable again now.
Today - just did a 10 mile road loop at lunch with a couple of stiff hills. Nice sunny Autumnal colours in the Glen.
Trying to continue with the "little and often" mantra.
BTW, Day 48?
I've been down to our flat on the coast, about an hour south of Benidorm. Despite a pretty poor weather forecast it was lovely, Sunday in particular was a stunning day. Anyway, did lots of walking on Saturday, Sunday was a bike ride, and Monday a run along the sea front.

Back in Madrid now, and it's cold, windy and grey.
BTW, Day 48?
I reckon so.
Maybe we should do a roll-call on Thursday to see who has made it half-way?
I'm a fan of the little-and-often approach. I just try to intersperse it with some bigger efforts. Last night was 32 mins in Zwift, but done at a bit more effort than usual trying to add some High Aerobic content.
Much, much nicer today than last few days.
Managed to get out towards Stanage, then back down through Blackamoor

I am still here, but struggling.
I was banking on a mixture of mtb, road riding, turboing (sufferfest and zwift) and running (to which i am new).
However, the atrocious weather and family stuff have prevented any proper outdoor riding for a while, but managed a couple of family mtb rides 2 weeks ago.
A crash on the mountain bike a few weeks ago caused some damage to hip flexors (my knee/leg was forced backwards, seeming to cause a muscle strain), made worse by the next couple of runs. i have not been able to run for over two weeks and even walking is painful. I can still ride though. I can walk, but not at a pace that could really be classed as exercise.
so basically, i'm stuck with riding in the garage every day, which is hardly something to look forward to.
Just a walk today at lunch to get out the office. Had planned a run but decided it wouldn't help the cough/cold. Hung with a few different grips for a couple of minutes on the climbing frame in the park to stretch shoulders. Got carried away with the photos. Such a nice afternoon, really cleared the head.
Doing the little and often approach here. Mainly because my MTB out of action and road bike just doesn't appeal for anything other than commutes. If I do a half an hour of an activity will usually try to do another half an hour of something else as well. Does mean can squeeze more different types of exercise in.
Day 48 then (but actually my day 50 as I started 2 days earlier).
Morning swim at Loch Pityoulish. Water temperature 8-9C and my first outing without a wetsuit this season. Stayed in for 13 minutes which was maybe a wee bit too much as I had some proper shakes afterwards. Water was lovely though - incredibly calm and with fantastic autumnal reflections.
Evening was another, much-needed, yoga/stretch session. I know this pays dividends in my running so all worthwhile.
Day 49 - Garage gym PT-directed weight session.
Nearly half way…
Lovely autumnal 6k run at lunch.
Still managing to keep up with the minimum 30mins exercise.
Did a family walk Saturday, short bike ride Sunday, bodyweight calisthenics Monday, Tuesday was a session on the bikes at rampworx skatepark in Liverpool. Now my wrist is killing so it was a chilly late evening walk last night and it'll be bodyweight leg/core tonight I suspect.
OK, so i can't run at the moment, but walking in the woods last night i wrenched the hip again. worse today. going to have to stop soon.
hoping to go on road ride with the club on saturday, maybe that will make me feel better.
Lovely Autumnal pics.
Went for a run yesterday, in the spirit of "little and often" I intended to do an easy 5k and did 6k (5.99), but my fuelling for lunchtime runs if often to shit and I bombed about halfway through, after which it was a struggle to keep moving. Ate fruit and a slice of cake through the morning which I thought would be OK, maybe stringing days together leaves me lower than expected.
Lovely Autumnal pics.
I was thinking the same. It was a much more dreich day here, so autumnal but in a much more washed-out colourway.
10k run for me yesterday round Kinrara estate. That bit back along the Speyside Way is a tad hilly to be fun though.
Day 50 today so I'll be celebrating getting half-way.
Another stunner today, popped out on the bike for an hour, out through Royal Troon and along the dunes, nice. Surprisingly no white dusting on Arran despite a very cold night.
Swim today for the first time in 6/8 weeks. Was aiming not to use hood, gloves or boots but it was painful (thermometer said 7.5c). Stunningly beautiful once shrink-wrapped in neoprene.

Well, I have had a bit of a sulk recently. I missed 5 days over the past few weeks. Mostly just fatigue. Been riding Zwift, bodyweight and kettlebell workouts and some skiing.

Right-o I am joining this thread half way in...
I have had an amazing year (200, 275, 300 and 2x 400k Audax's, some great mtb'ing, a new dream summer racer to ride in the sun, that didnt happen) until my first cold in two years knocked me out for a month. I now cant back on the horse..
Peloton tonight, lets see if I can sort this out..
10 – where in the world….?
Colorado. Not the best photo, more for reference for me when the season looks better. The run pictured isn't open yet, there's just a couple of greens with man-made snow open right now. But still, skiing on Halloween isn't too bad.
As promised, a wee celebration with a ride out to Grantown East for pizza(s) and beer.

That's day 50 done, so far without a gap day. I've lost track of who all is still participating though.
Nice one Scotroutes
I’m still in and no day gaps either (even if it has involved some 10 pm Pilates!). Today was a walk, but think I might do some stretching now too.
I’ve lost track of who all is still participating though.
Me me me!
I only managed a 15 minute walk when I was rock bottom with superbug last week, otherwise nothing missed. And I'm counting the weed pulling session 🙂 Got a proper sweat on and aching limbs AND we have a pond to show for it now.

Well done all.
I'm still going with no gaps. Today's was an hours bike commute, was 5c when I got there so definitely chilling off.
No gaps here, though a few walks, which I didn't want to do, hey ho.
Still going! Had several days with the minimum half hour of yoga due to colds but no gaps. Today was another one, felt light-headed a couple of hours around midday but fine by evening. So yoga this evening - Rock/Yoga Warrior Tree Pose - more challenging than expected.
Yesterday (weds): 5 sets of 10 push ups followed by 40 minutes of yoga.
No gaps here. Don't count the usual dog walks but there's been a few wahoo active recovery ride on the turbo. Dropped 2kg with no other changes,
Some lovely photos up there, but swimming at <10C... **** that 😀
And still going here with no gaps, although one day I did have to count the (admittedly more than usual) walking I did. We got a dog a couple of weeks ago with the challenge already running, so that's added 2 hours walking to my usual day, but like @onehundredthidiot I don't really count them as they go a bit against the spirit of the thing.
This week has been run on Monday, run+weights on Tuesday, turbo+swim on Wednesday, run+weights yesterday, and presumably a turbo session this afternoon. And we're planning tomorrow's trail run - it's been snowing in the mountains here and the plan is to head up to see it.
I'm kind of still in 🙂 illness and injury a few weeks back limited me to a week of dog walks, the dog loved the extra mileage he got, and I've missed a few bike days, but I've now got into a routine where I'm nearly doing half an hour of press ups and sit ups a day! Today is a rest day so only done a hundred of each so I can go out to a gig tonight, I think this counts for me as I've not been out jumping up and down for a long time now!
Back on the bike tomorrow for some bike park fun 🙂
Well done everyone, I'm in in spirit this year, hopefully all guns blazing next year!
Steve
Second gym session this week. Thought the battle ropes finisher did just highlight I really needed my dinner.
Walk for me today, bollocks.
Morning swim. Only in the water for 11 minutes but it's down to 7C so need to be a bit circumspect.

And then an hour and a bit on Zwift later. Legs are really tired at the moment so just couldn't really make any progress. I could barely get my HR into zone 3!
Am oot.
11 hours of DIY today, just done, it's pissing and blowing a gale outside, and I've got 2 coursework due in over then next week and a half.
Happy to have got to 50.
All the best to you squid gamers left standing! 👏
Missed yesterday's turbo session, my wife's uncle+wife came to visit and I had to be the perfect host etc. And fix his computer, the joys of being the unofficial IT support channel... Did an extra hour's dog walk though to make up for it.
Today was a lot better, it snowed a fair amount last night and Carlos and I went for a run up a mountain to see it. TBH the uphill bit was more of a walk than a run, and we got lost which didn't help, but it was a lovely day with no wind and a beautiful blue sky:

Wow. Stunning mogrim.
1.5 hours on the gravel bike here, as p20 finally got his Fairlight after nearly 10 months. Fun ride with no plan. Just need my legs to recover from that and last nights gym before tomorrows mtb outing.
Friday: Trials bike in the garden. Skills deserted me. Minor shinner from pedal. Then got heel wedged between crank arm and frame! Wasn't the most intense session, with a fair bit of recovery time from efforts, but a good hours worth.
Was about to get on the trials bike today until I remembered I was halfway through changing tyres and several parts of drivetrain had worked their way loose (trials riders do that to drivetrains we don't pedal normally). Err where was I?
Saturday: Cross country run. Tried to take it easy but failed. 4.75 miles, 40 minutes. Core felt strong from all the yoga etc I've been doing, felt nimble on feet for the first 3 miles at least too.
Lots of geese flying about overhead.
A wee stroll down by Loch Insh with Mrs S. Enjoying the Autumn colours.

Stopped in for a scone after we'd finished, thereby undoing all the good work 🙂
@mogrim - our snow keeps appearing and disappearing. Your photos just make me jealous - and anxious to get some decent fatbiking in.
Hung over and tired today, so bare minimum of 30m yoga. And to sleeeeeeeeep...
