Is anyone thinking of repeating this in 2021? I had a lot of fun with it last year, using it as a real encouragement to get out when the weather was less than ideal. I was also one of the many who "discovered" yoga to be a real benefit.

I make Sept 16th as the start date, so there's some time yet to consider it. Use this thread as a way of updating progress and providing a bit of incentive to those of us looking for inspiration and a wee push now and then.

Same loose "rules" as last year; 30 minutes exercise, indoors or outdoors, and we'll forgive the occasional lapse.

Recovering from elbow surgery after smashing it to bits and I’m really struggling mentally without being able to get out on the bike, this should be good motivation!

Do commutes count? I personally don't see why not. The idea is that this should be an incentive to exercise. If you'd otherwise drive or take public transport then it works for me. Encouraging folks out of cars seems like a worthwhile side effect, especially when many will be reluctant to use public transport and risk infection.

will count any commutes in the early days and if the incentive means i get to 4/5days per week, i will add something else in

Aiming to log an activity on Strava every day this year and still going strong so I'll definitely be doing this.

Oh yeah, I liked this last year...

I'm in...

I made commuting count as it's exercise too!
Basically... moving one's body for 30 min...

Good shout...

I was up for this last year then illness hit right in the early days. I’m in this year.

If I remember rightly wasn't this started to remember someone’s fallen friend?

Glad to see this resurrected,  I'm going to have a battle on the days I have kids, but plan to rope them in, so less bike riding but more trampolining!

Any idea how to record that on Strava?!

I’m guessing walking the dog counts, say a couple of 20 min walks minimum a day ? Plus some rides of course !

Oooh, meant to do this last year but got in about a week before an aweful cold got in the way. Just getting over a cold now so fingers crossed I can make it a bit longer this year!

Can't remember if it was this one or our work one but am I right in thinking occasional missed days were allowed as long as time was made up by the end of the week?

Personally the only rules I used were that it had to be every day, and it had to be something you wouldn't have to do anyway. A short dog walk wouldn't count, for example, but upping that to a couple of hours definitely would. For me, missing days would be a fail - I exercise most days anyway. The challenge there is to avoid missing one!

But AFAIK there's no official governing body here, just make sure it's a challenge... i.e. you need days where it's an effort and the only reason you do exercise is to avoid having to admit to it on this thread...

Anyone thinking about taking on this challenge should just have a go and try to keep going. The fitness benefits you will have gained by next year makes this such worthwhile.
It’s tough, especially when the weather isn’t being nice and the nights draw in meaning that you have to embrace the hardships but you will also gain a great sense of accomplishment for getting out when you wouldn’t usually.
I’m in.

Yeah I'll be in again. When it came to finish last year I was really enthusiastic to continue maybe not every single day, but to be more consistent with my exercising.... after a short break of course... but instead hit a slump and didn't bother with yoga or stretching or strength, just a ride and a run most weeks. My partner then picked the exercise bug and continued for most of the year which was good to see. Over the past couple of months I've picked up the exercise bug again and have recently started exercising during lunch breaks at work so won't need to count every commute.

Might give this a go. I managed to walk, run or ride every day from Christmas to when the clocks went forward this year but being in lockdown meant the were less demands on my time!

I had a reminder in my phone to post this on Monday! Amazed anyone is impatient to get going on it to be honest.

The official rules are that regular commutes don't count - trundling 5 miles to work in half an hour is out. There is some leeway though, I got dispensation for a 15 mile 50 minute one. But the reality is you can do what the heck you like, it's not bootcamp.

I think that's the "rules" that were talked about last year, though many people missed a day and got back on it or added days to the end.

I seem to recall a lot of late night walks and discovering YouTube yoga!

I'll join the fun for this one. My exercise regime has gone almost completely and I'm a little worried about S A.D. affecting me a bit more than normal, this should hopefully work to prevent that. I'll rope the other half in aswell.

YouTube Yoga was great if you couldn’t manage anything physical! I’ll give it another bash. Loved it last year. I did a lot of running last time but I’ve been nursing a knee injury since May so runnings out. Can still cycle tho. See you at the finish line 🥳

Im in. I tried v hard last year but had a few failed days.

Im pretty sure the OP from last year started it to remember a fallen friwnd who used to do this.

There was a strava group too last year.

Im retired now, so hoping the lack of shift work gives me the required power-up!

I'm in tho I'll be starting a week late so will do 100 days to New Year.

Last year I kept on going and exercised every day thru to mid June, bar 3 days when I had a cold. Then in June I picked up a niggling injury and have been only doing 3-4 times a week

And it got me started on yoga which has been great!

It's not a question that's been asked before and the man who can decide is dead so you can do what you like.

I’m in! Got to day 70 last year before we got COVID, and the last 9 months since has been s**t with long COVID; but I think I’m starting to get to a point that this is feasible again (with Pilates/easy walks on the days I need to back off to manage my energy). Plus I’m continuing to work from home quite a bit, so gets me out the house as the weather turns. @p20 is considering joining in too; but will count some of his commutes as 30 mins every day around some of his shifts is really hard (and also seems to still have a bit of a energy issue since COVID).

This challenge is about building on your hard gained fitness from the summer and keeping going when our natural tendency is to hibernate due to the dark nights and onset of winter.
30 minutes a day above what you would normally do is the challenge. How you achieve this is entirely up to you. Good health and the best of luck!

I'm two stone overweight, either I get with the challenge or I have to buy a new wardrobe.
I'm in - will be a mixture of bike commuting and swimming, just hoping my knee doesn't give up on me, so also throwing in some strengthening exercises.
This thread has inspired me to go to the pool just now!

MrsF and I are in.
Mine will be road riding, turbo training, MTBing, running, hiking.
Hers will be running, hiking, yoga. I might join some of the yoga sessions too.

Those of us on strava - would be nice to set up a club, so we can all see what the others have done. Shall i set that up?

Good idea... I've lapsed in the last few weeks. When I'm on it, not lately though, basic rule is something every day, at least 6 days per week.
So when not doing a sport (cycling, football) or commuting, it's a push, a pull, a hinge, a squat, a core, plus any little rehabby bits. 1 set of each if feeling sluggish, or 3 sets if more motivated. This ends up being 2-4 times per week.

Not worrying too much about high weights or specific exercises. Bodyweight is fine. Take each set to a burn, final set to failure.

Usually with a podcast on.

I'm not at all jacked or working on progressing to higher weights, but I feel better in the weeks I'm doing this, and learn where I am restricted.

It's not a lot, but it's better than nowt.

I'm in. After a very disappointing summer, sprained my AC joint in early June playing on the trampoline with the kids, just as that started to feel better my appendix ruptured and I spent the whole of July laid in a hospital bed.

Just about getting back into hard exercise again now so having a challenge to hold myself too will definitely help.

I was going to @ you @monkeycmonkeydo to make sure you were in, glad to see you back.

I'm probably not going to join the Strava this year, just log stuff on here (mostly because I don't think my pals want to see me filling up their feed with churned out gravel rides every day).

Don't worry @monkeycmonkeydo I'll post some photos for balance 😀 This year my "lawn" will feature heavily with various arrangements of obstacle.

I'll @earl for their grease the groove idea last year, quite enjoyed that while working from home. Re the challenge, for me is to exercise every day - I've been having commitment issues as I do like a day or two off every week.

I joined the Strava club, looked through the activity feed, at mostly my own activities, so left as don't really want to spam it.

My theory is you take loads of photos on the one nice day you do get, then post them daily as if it were a regular thing.

And what @scotroutes says. That frayed cable 🤮

I'm in too. Third attempt at getting 100 days in. This time if I do miss a day I'm going to try to make up for it the next but will make every attempt to get the daily duty done. Last year if I remember correctly I missed a day then gave up.

Think I've managed at least half hour of some sort of exercise everyday for a week now. First time since first lockdown last year. Since I'm learning drums, I'm also adding a challenge of at least half hour of drumming s day be it jamming some nonsense, playing songs or specific and targeted exercises.

My physical exercise will consist of (hopefully) at least 1x bike ride, 2x walks, 2x calisthenics workouts - bodyweight stuff with a pull up rig - and then fill the rest of the days with some sort of yoga or just more walks. Bike rides will always be my priority over all of those though so if I get chance I'll be out for a ride instead of walking.

So far I just feel knackered, normal?
