Just experimenting with my old Platypus bladder in my even older Camelback pack. It's been stored away in the garage for a few years, the bladder has yellowed slightly but the tube looks miraculously clear.
Just flushing it through with some soapy water, will try and run some boiling water through it then stick in the freezer overnight just to be sure. Don't have any steriliser tabs handy unfortunately.
What's the worst could happen, taste a bit fusty? World falling out my bottom?
Boiling water may well melt it.
I did wonder, scratch that then!
Have you got any bi-carb Soda?
Quick rinse/shake through and chuck it in the freezer.
Another rinse/defrost in the morning and should be good to go*.
* as long as there is nothing growing inside 😉

tbh I wouldn’t give it a second thought, quick rinse and use it.
on a related note I found an old platypus that must be about 15+ years old and had started to delaminate, it seems to be made of at least two layers. An email to platypus with a couple of photos and they sent me a new one. So props to them for their lifetime warranty 👍
I'd use some Milton fluid
I've got a baby so I have that stuff in the house. A wee trip to the shops for peace of mind would be my choice.
Milton is what I use in mine - when not in use though, keep in the freezer to stop any mould growing (wot fasthaggis said)
My camelbak bladder went a bit manky and eventually sprung a leak. I thought about getting a new one from Millets but found that the Eurohike backpacks (bladder included) were cheaper than the bladder alone.
I've now got a functioning camelbak and a spare small rucksack.
