Finished setting up my new bike, all going well but wondering why it won't shift into the easiest gear. Turns out the 10 speed zee m640 shifter I bought on here a few months ago but never used only clicks 8 times instead of the required 9.

Has anyone had this? Nothing else seems wrong with it and it shifts quite well with the other 9 cogs on the cassette.

Paired with an m5120 derailleur.

TIA.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs or anything but are you sure the lower limit screw on the derailleur is set correctly?

If you take the cable out, do you get all the clicks?

Could it be hitting the limit screw, preventing pulling enough cable through to click?

Have you got the smallest sprocket indexed correctly? (Is there another upshift below it?)

@gonefishin @Aidy

you were both right, it was the limit screw. Had a look this afternoon and sorted it out.

Thank you!

There is a little company which makes new innerds for shifters so you can convert a 10sp into 11 or 12....

https://ratiotechnology.com/about-ratio/

I occasionally ride with one of their founders.
