Are all 10 speed chain/cassettes compatible? Ive read that shimano cassettes must only use a HG-X (?) chain? I would like to use SRAM for the power link option. Or should i just a SRAM cassette?

Also, i assume a shimano shifter / rear mech combination will work fine regardless of chain/cassette choice?

My SLX 10spd cassette works fine with a KMC chain. Only went with KMC because the Sram 10spd powerlink is supposedly a single use item & needs replacing each time you split the chain.

So will a KMC chain work fine with a XT rear mech then?

Do the KMC chains come with a powerlink (or their eqivalent?)

Sorry for possible stupid questions, but 10 speed compatability is a bit confusing....

I use the shimano chain with kmc link running xt front and rear with no problems
I found the sram link was to tight on the chain and could not be pull to lock it also made the link stiff

KMC chains are the best, have their own power link. Manufacturers recommend using all the same items together to make more money. All the different brands work fine together, only thing you can't mix is rear shifters and rear mechs.
