Hi,
I need provisions for what happens when my 10 speed Shimano XT chain snaps. Is my only option the Shimano chain connecting pins or is there a 10 speed powerlink equivalent without spending £16 (!!) for 2 SRAM powerlocks that are only designed to close.
Many thanks in advance,
Chris
I just bought 2x powerlocks from CRC for about £6.
I'll just clean the chain on the bike for now I suppose.
I'm sure KMC make a removable one.
But they are all hilariously expensive at the moment.
Chris
If the chain links are the same size as Shimano 10 spd road chains then you can use these. I believe the road and MTB chains are compatible.

Although the ad doesn't state it, it is a twin pack and you get 2 sets of connecting links, I just bought some last week.
KMC make the chains for Shimano anyway.
My mate just has a 9sp normal sram one on his 10sp xtr & has had no probs in 3 months.
£9 for a chain link? really? Have we now got Zimbabwean levels of inflation?
I use KMC 10 speed Shimano compatable ones. They are re-usable.
You get X2 links in the pack for your 9 squid. They have worked fine.
Thanks guys for the useful comments. I think I'll get the KMC ones but keep them unopened alongside my 9 speed ones and then if disaster strikes I'll try the 9 speed first.
Many thanks,
Chris
