Thinking of converting my road bike to flat bars. I currently have a Tiagra 10 speed triple group on it. Would 10 speed MTB shifters work with the Tiagra mechs or do I need to get some proper road flat bar shifters?

Tried it with a 105 mech and Zee shifter. Doesn't work and had to fit a Zee rear mech in the end.
