Probably going 10 in the near future on a 29er I'm building up, but am a lover of the double/bash combo.

Am also a fan of Shimano, but it seems that their love for the double bash has moved on.

So what is there that will scratch my itch?

Or can I get a Shimano XT 10spd triple, source a 36t middle ring and a bash? (my understanding is that Shimano have deliberately altered the chainring mounting platform to stop this sort of silliness)

OR can I can a Shimmy 9spd double bash and source 10 speed rings (or 9 speed rings 10 speed compatible)

Yours,

Confused of Ryde

9 and 10spd rings are the same. I've not had problems with other rings on my SLX chainset either, but at worst a little filing may be needed.

Cool - ta.

So basically 9 speed rings and a 10 speed chain will play well together?

This opens up possibilities...
