Do any 10speed chains have quick link?like the older 9 speed MTB chains.would make life easier when cleaning after CX racing.
KMC ones do Craig.
I've put a KMC linky thing in my 10sp Shimano chain. Apart from being a bit stiff to open (I bought the tool after snipping some skin off my thumb 😳 ) it's been fine for riding, so far.
SRAM 9-speed link will fit 10-speed chain
I have tried a few brands and like the KMC ones the best. The tool is the best tenner I've spent on bike tools for a while !
So will a kmc one be OK with regular removal and cleaning?
wippermann connex.
KMC 10 is reusable so will be fine
Yes it's reusable. Just fit a new one when you replace the chain as it all wears together. I've haven't used a brand other than KMC since I came across their quick links.
I think KMC do both reusable and non-reusable versions, so just check that you get the right one. It's pretty clear on the KMC website.
is it worth paying more than 15-20 quid for a kmc one?
I've just bought one from flea bay 2.99 delivered that's for a reusable one
do they come with the reusable split link?

+1
Yeah, my Park Tool MLP1.2 Master Link Pliers arrived yesterday and were put to use straightaway. They've already lowered my blood pressure and spared the neighbours from listening to a foul mouthed tirade.
i've had lots of trouble with KMC 10speed split links. tried to use 4 so far,
1 fitted perfectly, easy to close, no problems
1 didn't fit at all, ie, would not close without huge amounts of force, then once closed chain could not pivot.
2 closed with small amount of force, needed a tool to close them, both then cracked / snapped on a ride shortly after.
won't be using them anymore, have reverted back to using SRAM 9 speed links on my 10 speed shimano, no problems at all and work every time.
Only time I've ever had to use them is fitting the chain and removing the chain to replace/service mech etc. KMC chains are just so good they never snap so no need on the trail 😀 (though I carry them anyway and they get donated to others).
But they can be a bit of a git at times to open, but depends how gunked up they are, and they must be a reusable one. Much easier with a tool. I use my wire crimpers which just happen to fit. Sometimes I can do it by hand but need to get the knack of pushing in the sides in the right place to slide apart.
Don't pay stupid money some LBS charge when you're desperate. Was stuck once and paid £8 in a Welsh bike shop for 1 link. 1! Should be a couple of quid each if you shop around. Buy a few just in case, but chances are you won't use them.
SRAM 10 speed 'quick' links should be renamed 'slightly easier than joining a shimano chain repair links'.
They are useful in a pinch, but once you have put it on, the process is fairly irreversible!
Easiest to get on and off that I've found is the Decathlon ones, sensible price to.

Unless you use a quick link tool (as mentioned above), in which case it's easy - have reused my SRAM links loads of times.
Decathlon links are KMC - it's stamped on them!

Agreed, although I think it slightly defeats the object having to have a specialist tool!
Never had problems with sram powerlinks but on my first kmc 10 speed chain ive found it impossible to use the quick link...gave up and used a 9spd gold powerlink in the end

Oh I dunno, it's much better than having to pein the end of a shimano pin with frozen fingers in the fog, in the dark, in a hole, next to a tree....with an OWL!
Win win..Decathlon links are KMC - it's stamped on them!
Remember, the tool is only really required for opening, which is not a common trailside need. If you have one in your bag then its as easy to fit to a broken chain as the SRAM 9 speed ones.
Bugger, went in decathlon earlier looking for a ten speed MTB chain.....but didn't have reading glasses with me to see who's name was on them so didn't pick one up.....guess I'll go back in there tomorrow for one 😆
10spd links £3.99 at decathlon - from memory, that's a pack of 2 as well!!
