Apols in advance if this has been covered before. I'm looking for some advice & recommendations for a decent chain for a SRAM/Shimano mixed 2x10 drivetrain (I've almost completed building up a frame using a mixture of new and nearly new components - and the only 10 speed chain I have kicking around is about 4 links too short...argh!)
I've fitted one of the latest generation 2x10 SLX 'dynasys' cranksets, but am running a SRAM 10 speed cassette (can't recall series no., but it looks and weighs similar to XT). I've been told by a local 10 speed doubter that I'll have to run a directional Shimano 10sp chain to get decent front shifting - although I don't know how he knows 'cos he's running 9 speed! 😕
My default chain choice is normally KMC or SRAM, but I'm sure I've read on here somewhere that KMC and some SRAM don't play nicely with the latest Shimano 'Dynasys' 10 spd.
Is there anyone on here with a similar drivetrain set-up that can recommend me a decent chain please?
TIA
Hi I have two bikes which both have 10sp. First one is a sworks spesh epic with 2x10 SRAM x9 chainset with SRAM 1070 cassette. The second bike is a trek remedy 9 with 3x10 XT chainset again with SRAM 1070 cassette. I run kmc x10 chains on both bike without any problems and faultless smooth shifting.
On the trek I did initially have a shimano dynasys chain and shimano hg81 cassette which was the recommended set up, it just did not run as smooth as the SRAM casette and kmc chain.
Hope that helps. Thanks
Thanks for the info. Good to hear that the KMC's run well, I'll get one ordered from Merlin.
Cheers fella.
Hi, was looking on CRC and came across these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=86116
