So narrow wide chainrings can't be the most difficult thing to bash out on the CNC machine once you have the file, so wondering if anyone has tried the various chinese made jobs on ebay.
Thinking it might be a way to try out an oval ring for not much outlay.
or
I have a 'Snail' 42t n/w chainring on my commuter was £15 quid off eBay about 2000km ago, still seems fine, took a while to arrive from China
Another "Snail" user here. Better than i expected. Even looks good- if that bothers you.
Edit - Mines not oval mind, but they do sell them
I’ve been using these for a year. Work fine. £6!

Had a few deckas and they are still going ok
Another Snail- mostly because the name made me laugh. It's not quite got the retention of my Works one but it's better than my Absoluteblack.
Had both snail and Relax, both fine if a little noisy.
Had the Deckas one on my hybrid commuter for 3 years with no issues
Recently put a Snail chainring on the lads bike, no issues so far and seems to be decent quality.
Have one of those snail rings hanging in my shed.. Used it for 1 ride which I had to cut short due to chainsuck.. Was with a brand new chain and cassette so can't see either of those being at fault.... Went back to the original 34 steel ring that I had on and all is fine again. Seems I got a duff one🤷♂️
While on the subject os "snail" has anyone tried the floating rotors they do on ebay for £11 each? Not sure I would trust them! Alot more to go wrong on brakes than a chain ring
Had the snail and deckers chainrings, the round ones, and they were fine. not that hardwearing, but did the job.
Avoided the ovals as they're not 'clocked' like the AB and others.
