Well the consolidation with the MTB's and the CX/Road have all converged this weekend.

No more 26" HT and FS, just a short travel 29er FS care of crazyknowledge off here, and a [cough]Gravel[/cough] bike, for commuting, CX, Touring etc etc.

They took longer to build than envisaged and still need some tweaks, XT8000 Crank on the Smuggler and a Command 100mm dropper. Maybe a stem change on the Tripster.

Only managed a quick 1/2 hour local blast before tea, so the Jury is still out on both of them.

Smuggler felt a little clumbersome, but that's compared to a 26" 5 Spot on the local muddy trails, I think it needs to be shown a few Lakeland drops and a trail centre before a final decision is made.It is also a couple of pounds heavier than the 5 Spot.

Being short, I'm still sceptical about the big wheels, as the Cotic Simple I had just didn't gel with me. But Lets see how it does over the next few months.

The number of photos of each bike is telling 😉 Smuggler looks great why you didn't go 275 ?

clumbersome

Is that a 29er specific term? 😆

clumbersome

Is that a 29er specific term?

It means it handles like a spaniel.

price, crazyknowledge had it for sale a lot less than even Merlin would drop the Scout (27.5 equivalent) to, and I already had a set of 29er wheels for the CX bike.

Is that a 29er specific term?

I don't think so, but that's how it felt 😯

It means it handles like a spaniel

Cocker or springer??

Smuggler looks very nice Dave, Paul and I were looking at one in Wheelbase this afternoon.

That commute is going to be very plush on the Tripster, nice!

Clumber of course!

Seriously though, the Smuggler will be perfect for Rivi.

Those are the two most miserable spaniels I have ever clapped eyes on 🙂

and you know what, I had never heard of Clumber Spaniels, see life is a continuous education 😀

Seriously though, the Smuggler will be perfect for Rivi.

here is hoping 😛

If you make the Lakes a Sunday ride, i'll be there. Can't do Sat 'cos of Alex's football.

I was looking at that Smuggler in Wheelbase too, just a week or so earlier. Very nice it is too...

I went for something else mind!

I love 29er wheels around the Lakes though, regardless of your size they just roll over stuff so much better.
