I just took delivery of my first 1 x 12 MTB in the week and have been out a couple of times over the weekend.
When I'm in the highest gear (smallest cog at the back) and start to freewheel, I've noticed a clunking sound.
On closer inspection the top side of the chain seems to be getting slack in it, which is causing the noise.
Is this normal?, or is there a way to fix this?

Probably drag in your freehub bearings and seals, it may clear itself once everything's bedded in, but it may be worth checking there's nothing caught up in it, or if the seals aren't located properly.
