I have a Shimano RM35 rear hub and want to fit a Sunrace mx8 11-46 11 speed cassette. Is this possible.

Looks like its 8,9 or 10 speed only

Aren't mtb 11 speed cassettes the same width as 9 and 10 speed?
It's the road 11 speed that are slightly wider.

Is there something special about the RM35 that I'm unaware of?

As above,11 speed mtb is the same cassette fitting size as 10. Road is wider

Rm 35 is a bog standard hub...I have it on good advice that it can be done..but just wanted to get more advice. Mtb tech can be a mine field.

Sometimes, but in this case only when roadies are involved. The standard Shimano freehub needs no alteration to fit an 11sp mtb cassette as the cassette is slightly dished to accommodate the extra depth on too-short spindle.

Unfortunately, some companies have sabotaged this by deciding it’s silly having different but similar road and mtb 11spd freehubs and standardising on ‘road’ as it can be altered with spacers to fit mtb equipment.

Yes, you will be able to fit 11-40 or bigger MTB cassettes.
