In line with most other thefts then, sadly.

And obviously. Crimes against the person can only happen when a person is present so unless they're dead then theres always a witness. The opportunity for crimes against property are pretty much always circumstances when theres nobody watching. The 'evidence' of a bike theft is basically 'the bike that I think was still in the shed yesterday wasnt there this morning when I looked' The crime scene is..... a bike not being there anymore. It seems remarkable that in as many as 10% thefts theres any grounds to even vaguely suspect who did it.
