Bit of advice please. Having not ridden much in the last couple of years and with a trip to finale ligure in a few weeks i thought it would be a good idea to fish the bike out the shed for a few prep rides. Noticed the headset could proberly do with changing on my 09 trek remedy. Wondered what people’s thoughts are on fitting a 1.0 degree or more? Angleset headset to it. Good idea or not?? Current headset angle is 67 degrees.
Any downsides??
many thanks
eddie
If you're fitting one you may as well fit a 2 degree one. I had a quick look on the Cane Creek headset tool and it looks like you're in luck - it's a ZS44/56 so you can fit one. You'd need an EC44/ZS56 set up from Works Components or (if you're feeling brave) Superstar.
I'd say it's a good idea, it'll make it feel much more modern and capable.
Cool thanks was only thinking 1.0 degree in case it didn’t really feel great maybe just settle for the 1.5 degree as a compromise 65.5 sounds good I think. Will go angleset as heard good things about quality

There superb quality and £40 with there code on the home page.
Arent remedy of that age a drop in bearing, like a carbon frame...or am I making that up?
Not sure but I know it is a zs44/56 as mentioned above
Breninbeer- I thought that, because my Stache is an integrated headset so I can't fit one to it. Booooo. But the cane creek tool suggests it is ZS44/56 so can take an Angleset .
The bearings in my superstar angleset are alot better than the ones in my works components one. As above go 2 degrees.
