Core Bike Show came and went, as did we. Here’s the best bits from Benji’s memory card.
In no particular order other than when I photographed them:
1. Hope’s new colour
Now, let me get the correct… Mocha, smoke or forest. I think. Only one of these new anodising colours will be adopted by Hope Technology. Visitors to Core Bike were invited to vote for their favourite and whichever received the most votes will go into production. Mocha yeah?
2. Aenomaly SwitchGrade 2
As featured in yesterday’s Fresh Goods Friday – we love it when a plan comes together – this on-the-fly saddle angle adjuster is being brought into the UK by WindWave. Just a nice, niche item that does what it set out to do.
3. DMR Sweeper Bars
Sure, Renthal were at Core Bike with their new high-as-a-kite riser bars, but my interest was more piqued by these super swept back (12°) bars from DMR. Based around the same manufacturing process as the DMR O-Dub bars that we really like. Am keen to give these a try. Suck and see and all that.
4. Kinesis G2 Midnight Blue Frameset
Whilst it’s not really a bike that I’d probably ever ride, I do appreciate a good thing done well. And a nice paintjob. And at a decent price (£675).
5. Topeak Prepstation Team Issue
Okay, so it’s about one million quid – £1,299 – but quality tools ain’t cheap. And this multi storey tool park has a lot of ’em! And it has wheels. And a track pump up the middle.
6. Topeak E-Booster
Looks a bit like something from Doctor Who but is in fact a rechargeable micro compressor. And unlike most other ones of these things, it has a display and the ability to input your desired PSI pressure.
7. Cane Creek shiny stem
Nice silver stem. That’s it.
8. Moon Titan
A self-contained dinky light that can slo be operated by a wireless remote. Attaches in an out-front stylee to get it out of the way of cabling. I *think* it has 1,700 lumens and lasts about an hour on full whack, I’ll get back to you if I’m wrong about that though!
9. Pirelli Scorpion Race DH S
Finally Pirelly has made a loose conditions tyre AND has made a tyre with a noticeably soft sticky compound. Am very much looking forward to trying these. it’s not like I’ll have to wait until autumn-winter is it, really? There’s always soft conditions somewhere ’round here.
10. Manitou!
Yes, we’ll soon be able to rock a Mezzer or a Mattoc up front once more. Great forks. Plus some other fork models that I’ve neve experienced so can’t really say anything about. Whilst I’m in two minds about the retro front-fsacing decals, I do really like the classic Manitou aesthetic of the crowns.
Seems like Pirelli can make a good tyre but are totally incapable of making a good tyre range

I am a sucker for nice tools so I do like that topeak prep station but alas, I lack the need and money, plus the house finance director would never sign of on such an extravagance.
I prefer the forest to the bronze 🙂

We don’t need 3 shades of orange from Hope.
I like the Smoke and the new ‘bronze’ actually looks like a bronze. Forest would need to be done very right for a complete look – could turn out horrendousÂ
Hmmmm those mocha Hope hubs look nice. Must resist urge to upgrade exisiting wheels!
Of you want to influence the new Hope colour there’s a queue are (won’t let me type in the capitals for some reason reason)code right there. I’ve gone for smoke.
Hope previously did forest green, a lot different from team green. + Team green has a habit of fading really badly

Bring back the gunmetal / smoke ones! I was really disappointed that colour got discontinued when I bought my last pair of hubs. Just a super-nice colour. The green is nice, but very close to the colour OneUp uses for it’s hubs and components.
Mocha and Smoke colours both look good.
Not that I’m gonna invest in a whole new array of anodised trick bits at this stage.
Black or silver or GTFO. I’ve had my time with fancier colours and I’m now officially boring. Apart from the bronze-coloured Nukeproof stem and handlebar with matching decals on one bike, for which I blame the WiggleCRC firesale.Â
Manitou news is great. I like the front-facing decals, quite classy too as far as those sort of things go. Got Mezzer Pros on two of my bikes so I’m very biased.Â

Who’s actually making them? I know Pirelli owned the Clemente and licensed the name to Donnelly who sub-contracted the manufacture to the catchily named Hwa Fong tire Co. Are they doing it in-house this time or have they just licensed the names to another factory?
